Video On Demand - Paid

Websites that allow visitors to watch full-length movies for a fee (usually about $3 to $5 USD). Most sites offer a choice of streaming or download formats, some form of digital rights management (DRM) that limits your viewing, and good quality MPEG 4 video with bitrates around 700kbs.

Broadway on Broadband

For about $6 USD, you get 5 days of unlimited viewings of top Broadway shows. Choice of DivX or VP3 codecs for high quality downloads.

CinemaNow

Video on demand service partially owned by Lions Gate Entertainment, Microsoft and Blockbuster. Recent movies are offered on a pay-per-view model that provides a 24 hour viewing period. They also offer a monthly subscription that provides unlimited views of less popular material. We have watched a couple of movies using this service and would give it a satisfactory rating.

Movielink

Paid service for U.S. broadband users. The service is owned and operated by Movielink, LLC, a joint venture of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Universal Studios and Warner Bros. Studios. Movielink content offerings are drawn from the vast libraries of those studios as well as from those of Walt Disney Pictures, Miramax, Artisan and others, on a non-exclusive basis.

Vanguard Cinema

Vanguard Cinema has a catalog of high quality independent films available nowhere else. Part of their collection is available for rental in DivX format at about $5.95 USD for a five day period.
